Karen O and N.A.S.A's 'I Shot the Sheriff' cover gets a video

In the beginning of 2014, Karon O, frontwoman of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, teamed up with duo N.A.S.A, to create a mellow cover of Bob Marley’s “I Shot the Sherriff.” The synth heavy song is now finally accompanied with an animated music video, reports Pitchfork.

Illustrator and director San Charoenchai brings Marley’s story to life through the animated clip. The animation shows John Brown, an evil sheriff never caught without a cigarette. Paired with Karen O’s vocals and a memorizing, trippy background, are the words “SHOT HIM DOWN” flashing in bold letter on the screen.

The cover made its debut in a Super Bowl commercial for Sonos, according to Rolling Stone . This particular cover has a pop sound compared to the original, which happened to be ranked the 450th greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone.

This hasn’t been Karen O’s only collaboration as of late. In February, she worked with Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend in a duet of her Oscar-nominated, “The Moon Song,” which appeared in Spike Jonze’s Her.
