Leonardo DiCaprio would be an excellent choice to portray Steve Jobs

It was reported earlier today by The Hollywood Reporter that Leonardo DiCaprio is being considered to portray Steve Jobs in an upcoming film from director Danny Boyle about one of the founders of Apple. It is very interesting that DiCaprio could be in the running for this role considering he said he was going to take a long break from acting due to filming three films in a row. DiCaprio filmed Django Unchained, The Great Gatsby and The Wolf of Wall Street consecutively and said he was ready for some time off to relax.

Even though he stated a break from acting is in his future, DiCaprio is currently associated with at least nine films, so even he claims he is taking a break from acting it may not be as long as he previously planned. I personally would be ok with that because I think he is one of the best actors in Hollywood today. I could picture DiCaprio portraying Steve Jobs considering he has done some excellent job portraying other people in biographical films.

DiCaprio was outstanding in the portrayal of Frank Abagnale Jr. in the 2002 film Catch Me If You Can about an 18 year-old con man who stole millions of dollars using fraud checks as a doctor, a pilot for Pan Am and a legal prosecutor. He was very convincing in this role about a young man who is trying to help his family by doing whatever he can to provide money for his family and himself.

DiCaprio gained more critical acclaim for his 2004 performance in The Aviator, a portrayal of Howard Hughes, the legendary aviator and director. This film focuses on Hughes life from the late 1920s to halfway through the 1940s. This movie was nominated for several Academy Awards, DiCaprio himself nominated for Best Actor. He did win the Golden Globe for Best Actor for his performance in this film.

DiCaprio delivered another solid performance in last December’s The Wolf of Wall Street in which he portrayed Jordan Belfort who was a penny stockbroker who was committing fraud and corruption on Wall Street during the 1990s. He was once again nominated for an Academy Award for his performance and won the Golden Globe for his performance in the film.

It will be interesting to see if DiCaprio ends up playing Steve Jobs in this upcoming film, but with an outstanding filmography under his belt, if he does decide to portray the co-founder of Apple, I will defiantly be going to see that film.
