Maya Rudolph and 'Saturday Night Live' veterans to star in 'Maya Rudolph Show' special for NBC

Maya Rudolph’s variety show pilot has finally been scheduled by NBC. The Saturday Night Live veteran has gathered her colleagues to make guest appearances. SNL creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels will executive produce.

NBC announced today that The Maya Rudolph Show will premiere on Monday, May 19 at 10 p.m. The variety show will feature former SNL stars Andy Samberg and Fred Armisen.

The Office’s Craig Robinson, who also has a pilot in development at the network; Suburgatory’s Chris Parnell; Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell; and former Will & Grace actor Sean Hayes will also make appearances.

Grammy nominee Janelle Monae will be the musical guest and producer Raphael Saadiq has been named the bandleader.

The Maya Rudolph Show has been in the works since the fate of Up All Night was sealed. After the show officially fell apart last year, Rudolph declined to make another pilot, instead pursuing her dream to host a variety show. NBC officially picked it up in November, with the possibility of it airing after the Sochi Olympics.

NBC officially called the episode a “special,” so it will be up to audiences to tune in and help NBC decide if more Rudolph is a good thing.
