'Meet The Parents' actress Teri Polo files for bankruptcy

Teri Polo, who starred alongside Ben Stiller in the Meet The Parents films, has reportedly filed for bankruptcy and is nearly $1 million in debt.

Polo filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last week, TMZ reported Tuesday. She owes the IRS $772,000 in back taxes and has to deal with over $36,000 in credit card debt.

To make matters worse, her landlord is seeking $30,000 from her because she allegedly left behind urine and dog crap at an old apartment. TMZ reported back in February that the landlord filed a lawsuit against her, alleging that pet urine ruined the $7,000-a-month LA apartment.

Despite starring in Meet The Parents in 2000, the 2004 sequel Meet The Fockers and the 2010 film Little Fockers, Polo has found little success in Hollywood. According to the Daily Mail, some have suggested that her career wasn’t helped by a 2005 Playboy photoshoot, although she didn’t regret doing it.

Polo has done work on television in recent years and currently stars on ABC Family’s The Fosters, which is executive produced by Jennifer Lopez.
