Mother arrested for April Fools’ shooting hoax

In what can be described as a very cruel and unamusing April Fools’ hoax, a mother was arrested after texting her daughter that she was hiding from a gunman at a college.

According to the New York Daily News, Angela Timmons, was arrested after allegedly texting her daughter April Timmons, that a shooter was on the loose inside the Virginia College where she is employed.

The Associated Press noted that Timmons allegedly told her daughter that she was hiding and heard gunshots.

Her 34-year-old daughter was so concerned for her mother’s safety and dialed 911 to report the shooting.

Police immediately headed to the school and obviously found that there was no gunman on the loose.

Timmons admitted to her daughter and officers that it was just an April Fools’ Day joke, however, authorities were not laughing when they put handcuffs on her.

She was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center in South Carolina and is being held on charges that include aggravated breach of peace and disturbing a school.
