New England Patriots sign safety Patrick Chung

The New England Patriots brought back safety Patrick Chung, who played for them from 2009-12. The terms of his contract have not yet been announced.

According to NFL, Chung signed with the Philadelphia Eagles to a three-year contract worth $10 million. He only lasted one season with them though, struggling in the 2013 season.

He became a liability for the Eagles defense, failing to record a turnover. He would often blow coverage. However, Chung showed promise when he played for the Patriots.

According to Patriots.com, Chung was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2009 draft. He started 30 games out of the 50 he played for the Patriots. Last season, Chung started 10 games for the Eagles and finished with 56 tackles.

Chung is expected to provide depth at safety for the Patriots. Duron Harmon will most likely start across from free safety Devin McCourty.

The Patriots will look to take advantage of their deep secondary and dethrone the Denver Broncos as AFC champions.
