Teens now tweeting American Airlines with bomb threats for fun

Following an American Airlines bomb scare based on a Dutch teenager's tweet, a host of other teenagers and Twitter users have taken to tweeting similar bomb threats to the airline company.

On Monday, the Dutch girl, known only as "Sarah," tweeted a thinly veiled bomb threat at American Airlines, and was quickly arrested in her Rotterdam, Netherlands home.

The tweet, according to The Washington Post, read "hello my name's Ibrahim and I'm from Afghanistan. I'm part of Al Qaida and on June 1st I'm gonna do something really big bye."

American Airlines, of course, reacted. But that, it seem, is not the end of the ordeal.

Whatever the reason, dozens of teens are tweeting bomb threats at American Airlines as well as Southwest Airlines.

According to Consumerist, the tweets include :

“@AmericanAir Hello, I’m eduardo. ago a couple of weeks were warned, i´m ignored. you will pay the consequences. Bomb! HAHAHAHA"

“@SouthwestAir I bake really good pies and my friends call me “the bomb” am I still allowed to fly?”

“@AmericanAir You really seem to not care that i’m about to bomb your plane that’s headed to Paris. Btw, my name is Ahmed.”

It remains to be seen if the reckless tweets will have any affect on the use of social media in the future, regarding such serious subjects.
