Simon and Garfunkel were an American music duo consisting of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. The two had previously formed under the name Tom & Jerry, and had a minor hit. The two became known widely as Simon and Garfunkel thanks largely to the success of the song “The Sound of Silence”. The film The Graduate helped push them into the public eye, as the film featured their music. The film’s success also pushed the duo into the making the single, “Mrs. Robinson”, which to this day remains one of their best-known hits. They are well known for their vocal harmonies and were among the most popular recording artists of the 1960’s. They ultimately split in 1970, after the release of the album Bridge over Troubled Water, of which the release was delayed multiple times due to the couples issues. The album reached number one in multiple countries, including the US.
