TV Ratings: Slumping 'American Idol' tops quiet Wednesday night

Despite Wednesday night consisting primarily of encores, American Idol still fell in the ratings but Fox was able to still top all other networks.

Fox and American Idol took in a 1.9 in the 18-49 demographic and 8.4 million viewers, which is a dip from last week and a poor showing when there was little competition, with the exception of another reality program, reports HitFix.

Though CBS took second on the night, Survivor still managed to top the first hour of Idol with a 2.2 demo rating. The network averaged a 1.6 in the demo and 7.67 million viewers. CSI and Criminal Minds were both repeats for the night.

NBC aired only encores on the night, averaging a 1.2 in the demo and 4.69 million viewers. ABC went with mostly encores and a new episode of freshman weakling Mixology, which took in a 1.2 demo rating. The network averaged a 1.1 in the demo and 3.81 million viewers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The 100 over on the CW did improve on the night, but only just, up to a 0.6 in the demo. Meanwhile, Arrow slipped on the night to a 0.7 demo rating. The network averaged 2.19 million viewers and a 0.7 in the 18-49 demo.
