'X-Men' director Bryan Singer accused of sexually abusing a teenage boy in 1999

A lawsuit filed against Bryan Singer, director of the upcoming movie X-Men: Days of Future Past, accused him of sexually assaulting a 17-year old boy in 1999. The lawsuit was filed in Hawaii Federal Court on Wednesday.

The plaintiff, Michael Egan, alleged that Singer gave him drugs and alcohol before raping him at a party at the Encino-located M&C Estate, according to Variety. Singer allegedly flew Egan out to Hawaii for sexual purposes as well. The specific charges include invasion of privacy by unreasonable intrusion, assault, batter and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The report also stated that Egan seeks an unspecified amount of damages.

The Wrap learned that Egan was connected to Singer by former Digital Entertainment Network chairman Marc Collins-Rector, who arranged the meeting between the two. While he has been a registered sex offender since 2004, Collins-Rector has not been named as a defendant.

Singer’s attorney, Marty Singer, said, “The claims made against Bryan Singer are completely without merit,” The Hollwood Reporter noted. Egen’s attorney, Jeff Herman, will be holding a press conference in Los Angeles today.
