Astronaut Chris Hadfield has to pull his 'Space Oddity' video

Today is the last day that the Internet can enjoy astronaut Commander Chris Hadfield’s amazing cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity.” What made his video more unique than any other cover of the song was that he actually performed it in space.

The video was filmed inside the International Space Station and made the Canadian astronaut the most well-known astronaut for a year. It racked up 22.45 million views and 407,000 like votes over 12 months. It was posted on May 12, 2013.

Unfortunately, Hadfield only had permission to have the video up for a year. That means that it will be gone by the end of the day. Hadfield shared the bad news himself on Twitter. “Bowie's last day - we had permission for a year, so our Space Oddity video comes down today. One last look,” he wrote, with a link to the video.

Hadfield’s son Evan told Mashable that they are thinking of some way to revive “Space Oddity,” but there’s no guarantee. “We are working on getting it back up, but there are few promises with something as complicated as videos from space,” Evan said.

So, enjoy the video while you can. Here it one last time:
