Channing Tatum’s role in ‘Foxcatcher’ may be Oscar worthy

“Its going to be weird when Channing Tatum wins an Oscar!” was the tweet sent out by Richard Lawson, which got many people talking of a possible supporting actor nomination for Channing Tatum. Tatum who plays Olympian Mark Schultz in Foxcatcher, which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival, has received high praise for his role. His ability to go deep and really become his character has garnered attention from some of the biggest voices in media, and may even be able to gain him an Oscar nod.
The movie, which also stars Steve Carell and Mark Ruffalo, has seen a lot of good press in the last week, but this film could mark a huge milestone for Tatum. The Hollywood Reporter raves that the audience is really able to feel his characters pain. The Wire has praised Tatum for breaking out of his undeserved “meathead” label and really showcasing his skills. For the first time in a while, we will see Tatum take on a challenging role and really shed his pretty boy persona.
