Charlize Theron compares constant media attention to rape

Gwyneth Paltrow is receiving some backlash for comparing negative press to war, and now fellow Oscar winner Charlize Theron is under fire for comparing the media intruding on her personal life to rape.

Theron, 38, made the remarks in an interview with Sky News, saying the constant media attention is like being “raped.”
"I don't (Google myself) - that's my saving grace,” she said. "When you start living in that world, and doing that, you start feeling raped."

Theron, who’s currently dating Sean Penn, is promoting her new film A Million Ways to Die in the West.

She continued on about her name being a mainstay in the tabloids, saying she prefers to keep her life with her son private.

“Some people might relish in all that stuff but there are certain things in my life that I think of as very sacred and I am very protective over them,” she explained.

"I don't always win that war but as long as I don't have to see that stuff or read that stuff or hear that stuff then I can live with my head in a clear space, which is probably a lot healthier than living in that dark room."

While celebrities before her like Johnny Depp and Kristen Stewart have made similar comments, it was Paltrow who was under fire for talking about internet trolls and saying, “It's almost like how, in war, you go through this bloody, dehumanizing thing, and then something is defined out of it. My hope is, as we get out of it, we'll reach the next level of conscience."
