Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, Greta Gerwig to star in 'Maggie's Plan'

The Cannes International Film Festival may be a few days away, but producers and distributors are already announcing projects they plan to sell at the Marche du Film in Cannes this year. One of the first packages up for sale is Maggie’s Plan, which will star Clive Owen, Greta Gerwig and Julianne Moore.

Moore and Gerwig had previously been attached to the project, which was written and directed by Rebecca Miller, reports Variety. Owen officially joined the film on Thursday.

Protagonist Pictures is hoping to sell the international rights in Cannes, while CAA and Cinetic are handling North American sales.

The film is based on a story by Karen Rinaldi and finds Owen at the center of a love triangle in New York City. Filming will start on location later this year and more cast members will be announced at a later date.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the producers on the project include Miller, Moneyball’s Rachael Horovitz and Damon Cardasis through Round Films and Specialty Films.

Owen recently appeared in Words and Pictures and Blood Ties. He also stars in Steven Soderbergh’s Cinemax series The Knick. He has an Oscar nomination on his resume for Closer and appeared in Children of Men with Moore.

Miller recently directed Robin Wright in The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.

Gerwig just starred in Frances Ha and will star in CBS’ How I Met Your Dad. As for Moore, her busy schedule includes the final Hunger Games films.
