Foo Fighters mark eigth album, 20th anniversary with HBO series

Rock 'n' roll band, The Foo Fighters, have announced that their eighth album will be released this fall. To celebrate this album the band will be working with HBO to produce documentary series about the recording process and life on the road.

In a statement released by the band, they explained that the series would focus on how they recorded this album and that it would be directed by Foo Fighters front man Dave Ghrol.

The band members focused on eight cities to help with the creation of this eighth record. They traveled to Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, D.C. and New York. At each city the group recorded a song at a legendary studio that was integral into the unique history of the city they had arrived in. One song was recorded in each city, with the songs featuring local musicians helping with the recording process and musical parts.

When it came to recording the songs, that was a unique experiment for the rock group as well. Ghrol held off on writing down any lyrics until the last day of each session in each city. This was in order to be inspired by the entire experience in each location.

This HBO series will also be coinciding with the Foo Fighters' 20th anniversary, Rolling Stone added.

An official release date for this album has not yet been announced.
