Fox cancels comedies 'Dads,' 'Surviving Jack,' 'Enlisted,' and drama 'Rake'

In a move that should surprise absolutely no one, Fox announced on Wednesday that the network has pulled the plug on three comedies, including Dads, and one drama.

Struggling comedies Dads, Enlisted and Surviving Jack were all axed after weak performances in the ratings, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Drama Rake was cancelled too, but that was a given after the series hemorrhaged viewers and Fox burned off the remaining episodes on a Saturday.

Dads had the strongest ratings of the bunch, averaging 4.1 million viewers and a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic during its short first season, but was critically reviled. Enlisted struggled and was eventually moved to Fridays where it only averaged a 0.7 in the key demo, though it looks better when DVR numbers are included.

Surviving Jack was given a midseason debut, unfortunately with a poor lead-in, the American Idol results episodes. The Chris Meloni vehicle never got off the ground and only averaged a 1.5 in the demo, which isn't too terrible in this day and age though.

TheWrap reports Fox also decided to pass on three comedy pilots: Dead Boss, No Place Like Home and Fatrick. There is a small chance Sober Companion and Cabot College could be picked up.

The cancellation announcement comes just shortly after the network revealed series orders for Gotham, Empire and Red Band Society.
