Happy birthday to one of the greatest NBA players Jerry West

Jerry West, better known as Mr. Clutch, turns 76 today. He was born on May 28, 1938 in Chelyan, West Virginia. He is an NBA legend that played for the Minneapolis Lakers and then when they moved to Los Angeles he was on the team as well.

If you look closely at the NBA logo, you will notice a basketball player dribbling with his left hand. That player is Jerry West. He became the NBA’s logo in the 1969-1970 season. He earned the right because at the time he was viewed as the poster boy of sportsmanship and heart in his era, reported by Sports Keeda.

His stand out accomplishments were he was a on an all-star team 14 times, 10 times he was selected to be on the All-NBA first team, and in 1997 he was selected as one of the 50 greatest players of all time.

West in his later years has become an NBA executive for the Golden State Warriors. A recent story has transpired that he was responsible for getting former Warriors coach Mark Jackson fired. When Jackson was hired in 2011, West did not want him as head coach, according to SF Gate.
