House from 'Ferris Bueller' sells for $1.06 million

The Chicago house, most known for appearing in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which starred Matthew Broderick, finally sold on Thursday for $1.06 million.

The sale amount is less than half what the Rose family, who have owned the home since it was built, first were asking for back when they put the house on the market in 2009, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The original asking price was $2.3 million, but over the past few years steadily fell, until finally an investment banker and lawyer purchased the house. The house is 5,300 square feet and has a separate glass and steel enclosure for cars, which appeared in the 1986 film.

The house was built in 1953 and features four bedrooms, four bathrooms and the separate auto pavilion can hold up to six cars.

The listing agent, Maladee Hughes, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter and said, "They bought it for the architecture." Hughes added, "They're not going to change it, they're going to restore it, they're going to keep everything the way it is."
