Report: Convicted murderer who died in botched execution was Tasered

Hours before the death row inmate died of a heart attack during a botched Oklahoma execution, he was Tasered by prison officials.

According to the New York Daily News, a prison report on Thursday revealed that a stun gun was used to restrain Clayton Lockett early on Tuesday.

The Huffington Post reported that Lockett was Tased and officials found a self-inflict wound on his arm the day of his execution.
The 38-year-old had reportedly uncooperative with prison guards that morning and refused to eat.

That evening, a doctor injected Lockett with the first lethal drug and administered the second and third several minutes later. However, the inmate remained conscious and began to struggle. Oklahoma Department of Corrections Direction Robert Patton questioned the doctor and was told that Lockett’s vein had collapsed and that "the drugs had either been absorbed into tissue, leaked or both."

He finally died of a heart attack 43 minutes later.

Lockett was convicted of first-degree murder, rape, kidnapping and robbery.
