Stephen, Lucy Hawking and Nerd Corps developing children's cartoon series

Stephen Hawking and his daughter Lucy Hawking are teaming up with Nerd Corps, along with Pure Grass Films, to develop an educational children's cartoon television series adapted from the popular George Greenby book series.

The book series was written by the Hawkings and follows 11-year-old George Greenby and his friend Annie Bellis who use Cosmos, a supercomputer with attitude, to explore and learn about the vast universe. The plan is for 26 30-minute episodes of 3D animation.

The series will be aimed at 5- to 9-year-old kids and will teach them about science and physics both more locally on Earth as well as cosmically.

"The joint mission with Nerd Corps presents a truly exciting opportunity to engage young viewers with science through spectacular visual entertainment and dramatic storytelling," Stephen and Lucy said in a joint statement. "We are thrilled to be working with Nerd Corps and look forward to developing the series together."

Nerd Corps and Pure Grass Films will be executive producing, financing and distributing the cartoon series, with plans for the comedic series to be multi-platform.
