TV Ratings: 'Criminal Minds' bows out up, 'Modern Family' improves ahead of finale

Criminal Minds finished off the season up in the ratings on Wednesday night, while Modern Family's penultimate episode also saw a boost.

CBS took the night after averaging a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and topped overall viewership with 9.94 million viewers, reports HitFix. Survivor was consistent with a 2.5 in the demo, while Criminal Minds concluded its latest season up in the demo with a 2.7 rating.

Fox was right behind, as the lone show of the night, American Idol improved on the evening to a 2.1 in the demo and 8.8 million viewers.

Trailing behind was ABC, which averaged a 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demo and 5.8 million viewers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Middle ticked up to a 1.9 demo rating and Suburgatory closed out the series with a 1.5 in the demo. Modern Family was up to a 3.1 in the demo, while Mixology ended its freshman season and series with a 1.3 rating. Nashville stayed even with a 1.3 in the demo.

NBC averaged a 1.4 rating in the advertiser-important demo and 5.1 million viewers. Revolution tied its series low with a 1.1 in the demo and the renewed Law & Order was even with a 1.5 rating. Chicago P.D. ticked up to 1.6 in the demo.

The CW managed a 0.7 in the demo and 2.05 million viewers off even performances by Arrow's season finale and The 100, which got a 0.8 and 0.6 rating, respectively.
