Wes Anderson, 'Grand Budapest Hotel' cast to set sail on Queen Mary 2 cruise

Director Wes Anderson and several members of The Grand Budapest Hotel team will join passengers on the Queen Mary 2 this June for its Transatlantic Crossing. Anderson and the actors will participate in a Q&A session and will be there for a special screening of the film.

Cunard Line announced that the event will be part of the Queen Mary 2’s 10th anniversary. “Mr. Anderson has many fans among Cunard guests, and we know they will jump at this unique opportunity to enjoy his films, and spend time with him and his wonderful collaborators,” Cunard CEO David Dingle said. “It’s another example of the exceptional programming we feature on our Transatlantic Crossings.”

Anderson will be joined by Oscar winner Tilda Swinton and actor Jason Schwartzman. Writer/producer Roman Coppola will also take part in the voyage.

Anderson is excited to be on the voyage. “This is going to be my first time on board Queen Mary 2, but I have been looking forward to having this chance since before the ship was even launched over ten years ago,” he said in a statement. “'m especially happy to be able to travel this way with my great friends.”

Cunard said that there will be “multiple film screenings” throughout the seven-day voyage, which starts on June 13. While they didn’t say what other Anderson films might be screened, adding The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou to the schedule is a must.

The Grand Budapest Hotel opened in March in the U.S. It is the highest-grossing film of Anderson’s career, earning $140 million worldwide, notes Box Office Mojo.
