At least six shot on Seattle college campus

At least six victims were shot Thursday afternoon at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle. Police currently have one suspect in custody.

CNN reports that the shooting began inside Otto Miller Hall around 3:30 p.m. The campus was on lockdown and traffic around the school was blocked.

Police told KOMO News that the gunman walked into the Otto Miller Building just after 3 p.m. and shot four people. He then began reloading his weapon when staff members were able to disarm him.

Witness Briana Clark was inside Otto Miller Hall when the shots were fired. She told KOMO News, “I first heard two muffled shots that I thought were two helium balloons.” She then saw the injured students inside the building, and several more outside.

KOMO News reports that the victims were rushed to Harborview Medical Center. One victim, a man in his 20’s, died shortly after arrival. A 20-year-old woman is in critical condition, and a 24-year-old man and 22-year-old woman are in stable condition.

LA Times reports that the entire campus was on lockdown for several hours. Staff and students hid inside the library, gym, and other spots on campus. The lockdown was lifted just after 5 p.m.
