Bill and Giuliana Rancic's surrogate suffers miscarriage with their second child

Bill and Giuliana Rancic have revealed that their surrogate has miscarried their second child. Bill confirmed the surrogate who carried their first child, Duke, 21 months, Delphine, suffered a miscarriage.

"This whole season on Giuliana and Bill we've been trying to have another baby. Unfortunately our surrogate Delphine who we love very much had a miscarriage. It's something that we didn't see coming. We were devastated,” he told People about the heartbreaking news.

The couple had a rough road before they welcomed baby Duke in August 2012. After years of trying to conceive naturally, the E! News co-anchor found out she had breast cancer in 2011, which led her to undergo surgery for a double lumpectomy.

"She was about nine weeks pregnant. We were pretty close to getting into the safe zone," he continued. “We experienced a miscarriage years ago when we were trying with Giuliana, so we had been keeping the pregnancy news tight to the vest."

While he said they “hit the surrogate lottery” with Delphine, he described it as a “double sadness” because they didn’t want her to blame herself. He went on to say that they remain optimistic and will continue to try to give Duke a sibling.

“We've had to battle it out and that's something that we're going to continue to do,” he said.
