Bills Marcell Dareus charged with reckless endangerment, out for OTAs

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment for his part in an accident allegedly caused by drag racing.

According to ESPN, Dareus was arrested on Friday in Hamburg, New York and charged with reckless endangerment in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor, as well as reckless driving and participating in an illegal speed contest.

This is not the 24-year-old’s first run-in with the law. He is facing felony charges in his home state of Alabama for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after synthetic marijuana was found in his car. He also faces a possible suspension from the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Bills head coach Doug Marrone announced after practice on Tuesday that the defensive lineman will miss the next two weeks of organized team activities to work on his personal issues.

Dareus recorded 7.5 sacks and 46 tackles in 14 games last season and was selected to the Pro Bowl.

Marrone declined to say who the driver of the other car was, but The Buffalo News reported that sources said Bills lineman Jerry Hughes was the behind the wheel.
