Chris Daughtry 'ashamed' of D-day tribute snub (Video)

Chris Daughtry of American Idol fame and lead singer in the rock 'n' roll group Daughtry has released a personal apology after he refused to perform a patriotic song during his appearance on the U.S. new show Fox & Friends. Daughtry refused to play the tune which was selected to make the D-Day anniversary.

Daughtry was playing the show as part of the show's All-American Summer Concert Series. The rock was asked to play one more song and dedicate it to veterans but Daughtry declined. "I'm off the clock. I'm going to watch y'all," said Daughtry to the crowd. These actions led to a huge social media backlash, MSN reported.

In the video, which was posted on the singers YouTube channel.

Billboard reported that in the video the "Over You" singer explains that he was caught off guard and felt very awkward.

"I was thrown off," he said, "I panicked." Daughtry went on to explain, "It was absolutely disrespectful. Poor choice of words, terrible judgment on my part. ... I wish that I could have pulled it together."
