Donald Sterling’s attorney calls NBA ‘a band of hypocrites’

After Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling reversed his decision to sell the team, his lawyer called out the NBA in an interview on Tuesday.

"The NBA's focus is the sale of the team. That's all they're talking about," Sterling’s attorney, Bobby Samini said during an interview on TODAY. He also claimed that his client has been “singled out” by “a band of hypocrites.”

ESPN reported on Monday, that the disgraced owner withdrew his support for the sale of the franchise to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for a record $2 billion.

Sterling said that he was calling off the deal, which was negotiated by his wife, Shelly, and was going to “fight” to “protect” his rights.

The 80-year-old’s lawyers threatened that going forward their client is prepared to demonstrate the hypocrisy of the league.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver imposed a lifetime ban on Sterling and fined him $2.5 million for racist remarks he made in a phone conversation with former companion V. Stiviano.

Despite Sterling’s reverse decision, his wife, Ballmer and the league have remained confident that the sale will proceed.
