First Amazon smartphone is making AT&T its sole service provider

Amazon has decided to sell its first smartphone, which the company is expected to reveal on Wednesday, exclusively through AT&T.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Amazon is making AT&T the sole service carrier to sell the smartphone, which is what the iPhone did when it first debuted to give AT&T an advantage over other carriers. Amazon is also hoping to give its competitors a run for their money by offering a special 3D image effect without the need for unique glasses. In order to achieve this, Amazon has installed four front view cameras on its smartphone to make images appear as though they are a hologram.
Amazon is taking a risk in a market where its two biggest competitors, Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics co. have a combined market share of 60 percent. However its partnership with AT&T and its special data plan, known as “Prime Data” will also set it apart from the two dominating smartphone brands.
This is not the first time Amazon has worked together with AT&T. AT&T currently sells Amazon 4G Kindle Fire HD tablets, according to PC Mag.
Amazon will reveal its phone Wednesday at a debuting event in Seattle.
