Granderson's two home runs not enough for Mets in San Francisco

The San Francisco Giants completed their three game sweep of the Mets with a 6-4 victory on Sunday. Despite getting two home runs from Curtis Granderson the Mets suffered their sixth straight loss, building upon their longest losing streak of the season.

Zach Wheeler started for the Mets, giving up four runs on six hits before being taken out of the game in the fourth inning. Despite Wheeler's poor outing, the Mets bullpen was able to keep them in the game, getting two scoreless innings from left handed pitcher Dana Eveland. Evelend was making just his third appearance of the season after spending 2013 pitching in Korea.

The Mets, now 28-35, were able to take an early lead on two time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum. Daniel Murphy reached on a single and then Curtis Granderson hit a two-run home run to put the Mets up 2-0.

Gregor Blanco
lead the Giant's comback however, driving in three runs on two hits, including a double in the second inning which put the Giants up 3-2.

The Giants would maintain the lead for the rest of the game, adding runs in the third, seventh, and eighth innings.

The Mets would score again in the sixth inning off of Granderson's second home run of the game, giving the former Yankee eight for the season. A wild pitch from Jean Machi
in the eighth allowed Daniel Murphy to score and cut the Giant's lead to 5-4. However, that would be as close as the Mets would get.

The game marked the end of the Mets disappointing 11 game road trip which they went 4-7 on.

They will have a day off before they return home to open up a three game series verse the National League Central leading Milwaukee Brewers.
