Hope Solo enters not guilty plea in domestic violence case

US Women’s soccer goalie Hope Solo has entered a not guilty plea after she was accused of domestic violence charges.

Solo was arrested early last Saturday at her sister’s home outside of Seattle after she was accused of assaulting her sister and her nephew, according to the New York Daily News.

.
Police said that a male caller reported a women at the residence was hitting people and that no one could get her to stop or leave the house, according to the Seattle Times. Once police arrived, they heard a disturbance inside the house and found Solo intoxicated. She was then arrested.

She has released from jail without bail, but was ordered to stay away from her sister and nephew and not drink any alcohol.

Solo’s attorney, Todd Maybrown, told the AP last week that Solo was the victim in this incident.

“Hope is not guilty of any crime,” he said. “In fact, our investigation reveals that Hope was assaulted and injured during this unfortunate incident. We look forward to the opportunity to present the true facts in court and to having this matter behind Hope very soon.”

This isn’t the first time Solo has gotten into a domestic assault. The day before she married her husband, football player Jerramy Stevens, in November 2012, the two had a domestic assault where Stevens was arrested, but not charged.

Solo is due back in court on Aug. 11.
