Kaiser Chiefs open up Glastonbury Festival with surprise appearance

On June 27, the 2014 Glastonbury festival weekend got started off right with a surprise performance by hit band, the Kaiser Chiefs.

Glastonbury Festival started in 1970 the day after Jimi Hendrix died, when music lovers came and watched shows for £1 according to the Glastonbury Festival’s website. For this year’s festival, more than 100,000 tickets were sold at £215 each, the equivalent of $370. Notable acts performing at this year’s festival include a range from Metallica to Dolly Parton and apparently, the Kaiser Chiefs.

Performing on The Other Stage at the festival, the band filled up their 11 o’clock time slot with hits like “Everyday I Love You Less,” the song “Meanwhile Up in Heaven,” and the ever-popular “Ruby,” according to NME.com.
Band member Ricky Wilson told attendees, “Glastonbury, we are honored to kick off your weekend of fun,” as reported by Reuters.

The 2014 Glastonbury Festival will run from Wednesday June 25 to Sunday June 29.
