Kelsey Grammer would love to return to future 'X-Men' films

In a recent interview to promote Transformers: Age of Extinction, Cheers and Fraiser actor Kelsey Grammer admitted that he would love to play Hank McCoy, also known as the blue, hairy, yet sophisticated “Beast,” in a future installment of the X-Men franchise.

In an interview with Collider , Grammer admitted that he actually had not been initially approached to play beast in the recent Days of Future Past , and had to take initiative himself to contact director Bryan Singer about the film.

"Actually I called Bryan," Grammar stated, as reported by Comicbook.com. "I bumped into Hugh Jackman and he said, ‘Oh you’re gonna be in another X-Men, mate!’ and I said, ‘No I’m not, I don’t know anything about it.’ So I made a couple of inquiries, got a hold of the script, found out that it’s primarily dealing with the past and that timeline I don’t have a place in, but I saw that at the end there was this coda where he made an appearance. I said, ‘Listen, I really want to be involved,’ so Bryan arranged for it and I had a lovely time."

Futhermore, when asked about the possibility of reprising the role, Grammer said, "I hope to do another. I hope they find some way to come up with a new story that involves Beast in my timeline."

While most of Beast’s appearance in Days of Future Past was performed by British actor Nicholas Hoult, Grammer would love to play the cultured mutant in X-Men: Apocalypse, which, according to Variety , takes place in the 1980s. According to Comicbook.com, Apocalypse will primarily star the X-Men: First Class cast, but producers have hinted that there will be at least cameo appearances from some of the original cast, which may include Grammer.
