LA Kings re-sign forward Marian Gaborik

After helping the Los Angeles Kings win the Stanley Cup, Marian Gaborik has re-signed with the team for seven years and $34.3 million.

After a disappointing regular season that saw Gaborik only suit up for 41 games and score 30 total points, he helped lead the Kings with a remarkable postseason. He led the playoffs with 14 goals and assisted on eight others, according to the NHL.

He is happy to remain with the team that has won two out of the past three Stanley Cup championships.

Gaborik was traded from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Kings for forward Matt Frattin and two drafts picks at the trade deadline in March, according to CBS Sports.

Gaborik was on his third NHL team in two seasons after the New York Rangers traded him to Columbus at the end of the lockout-shortened season in 2012-2013.

He was the third overall pick in the 2003 NHL entry draft by the Minnesota Wild and has 704 career points in 810 regular season games with Wild, Rangers, Bluejackets and King.
