Mario Lopez is getting not one, but two new co-anchors to help him report on entertainment news on Extra. Maria Menounos will be replaced by Tracey Edmonds and Charissa Thompson.
Edmonds is better known for her behind-the-scenes work as a producer, running Edmonds Entertainment Group, notes Broadcasting & Cable. She currently executive producers the OWN series Deion’s Family Playbook with Deion Sanders. In addition, her film group released Jumping The Broom.
Thompson will get occasional breaks from her Fox Sports 1 duties with time on Extra. She will still keep her job there, though.
“From the moment I put Tracey and Charissa on stage with Mario, their chemistry was off the charts,” Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey, senior executive producer, said in a statement. “They are generous with each other, they complement Mario, and together they will be an unstoppable team that will take Extra into the future.”
Last month, Menounos officially announced plans to leave Extra for NBCUniversal’s E! Network. The multi-year deal also gives E! a first look at projects from Menounos’ Underman/Omegagirl Productions company.
Extra is a syndicated show produced by Warner Bros.’ Telepictures.
