Oregon high school shooter, 1 student dead, police say

Police announced on Tuesday that the suspected shooter at an Oregon high school was dead and the situation was now stabilized. A student victim also reportedly was killed.

Early in the morning, police were called to Reynolds High School in Troutdale for reports of an active shooter situation, reports KPTV. Law enforcement that arrived on scene helped students and staff evacuate during lockdown.

The lockdown, for the school of 2,800 students, remains in effect as police say they must thoroughly search the school to make sure everything was safe.

According to Reuters, it appears that no one suffered any injuries as a result of the shooting, despite earlier reports. American Medical Response and local fire departments denied that anyone was taken to the hospital.

While no one appears to have been injured, KOIN 6 and a couple other news sources say that one student at the school was killed during the shooting.

Reynolds School District Superintendent Linda Florence said, "This is a very tragic day, one that I hoped would never ever be part of my experience."
