Report: Female prison teacher attacked and raped by Arizona inmate

A female prison teacher in Arizona was reportedly attacked and raped by an inmate after administering a test.

According to records obtained by the Associated Press, on Jan. 30 Eyman prison inmate Jacob Harvey asked the teacher if he could use the bathroom before pushing her inside and viciously attacking her.

Harvey allegedly stabbed her in the head with a pen, forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.

The attack has raised a lot of questions about whether or not prison staffers working in close proximity with convicted offenders are safe.

The Mirror noted that prison officials have said that the attack is a risk that comes with the job of overseeing violent prison inmates. They also admitted that they are very understaffed.

The victim was left in a classroom full of sex offenders with no security and only a radio to call for help. A radio that had its channel changed during the attack, which resulted in a delay of finding her.

Harvey has been serving time for forcing his way into the apartment of another woman and repeatedly raping and beating her, while her two-year-old son was home.
