South Korean police continue search for sunken ferry owner

A ferry crash in South Korea on April 16 left more than 300 people dead. Now, authorizes are continuing to search for the owner of the ferry.

A church in Seoul was stormed in the hunt. The owner, Yoo Byung-eun, regularly attends the church, the Associated Press reported.

The church members were not so willing to give away Byung-eun’s location.

“We’ll protect Yoo Byung-eun even if 100,000 church members are all arrested,” read a banner held by members.

Four members of the church were taken into custody for providing shelter to Yoo, and aiding in his escape.

According to BBC News, the ferry was mostly carrying school students.

The ferry’s crew receive backlash, and some were arrested when they told passengers to stay put even when the captain, Lee Joon-seok abandoned ship.

According to The Washington Post, photos of the captain emerged showing him leaving the vessel.

Police are offering a $500,000 reward for tips about Yoo.
