WWE legend Pat Patterson publicly comes out as gay (video)

Video from TMZ

Former wrestler and WWE hall of famer Pat Patterson has publicly come out after 50 years of secrecy.

The coming out was filmed on an episode of the WWE network's series finale for Legend's House. "For once in my life, I'm going to be me now," an emotional Patterson said.

Patterson also said he had a partner for 40 years, but he passed away after a heart attack, according to TMZ. Pat's fellow wrestling legends responded with teary-eyed sympathy: "We love you, Pat."

As the The Bleacher Report pointed out, the episode was actually filmed in 2012, but was aired publicly this past Thursday night.

Patterson has played a huge role in World Wrestling Entertainment. He was the company's first intercontinental, and now serves as their "creative consultant" and helped create the still popular pay-per-view, Royal Rumble. He will also continue working as a WWE executive.
