‘Big Brother 16’ episode recap: 'Devin continues his dominance and is the ‘Bomb Squad’ over?'

Devin is very happy that Paola threw the competition; Nicole and Hayden are ecstatic that they won Battle of the Block and came off the nomination block. Brittany is worried that she could be going home this week. Devin again reassures Hayden that he was never the target this week. ‘The Bomb Squad’ members Zach, Cody, Derrick and Christine who claim to be “non-supporters” of Devin are discussing who they want to evict this week. They don’t want Brittany to go and want to send Paola home. They are also discussing a plan for one of them to win HOH next week and backdoor Devin.

Later that night Christine and Amber are talking with Caleb and Derrick out in the hammock and they feel intimated when trying to talk to Devin. They also feel that he can be very disrespectful towards them. Caleb and Derrick are playing pool and Caleb says to Devin that he feels the majority of the house, including alliance members want Paola to go home over Brittany. This immediately angers Devin who defends himself and they argue about what the plan should be for this week. Devin is upset and storms off to the HOH room then comes back outside and pulls Caleb outside. They continue to argue and he says that the alliance is “done”.

Frankie and Derrick are chosen as the next two members of the TeamAmerica alliance. They are told to go to the weight bench tonight to meet their other team members. They use code words “apple pie” and “bald eagle” to discover their other alliance members. Derrick, Donny and Frankie are solid choices for this alliance. Zach, Derrick and Amber are going to play the POV competition along with HOH Devin and nominees Paola and Brittany. Caleb goes to the HOH room to cool things off with Devin. They are both keeping the alliance together, but both reveal in the diary room they don’t know how long it will last. Caleb lets it slip that some people wanted to put him up next. The entire ‘Bomb Squad’ alliance has a meeting upstairs where Devin claims that the alliance is not a dictatorship. He wants to hear other opinions and the women don’t say a word. Zach speaks up and says he wants Paola to go over Brittany. He also says that he did mention putting Devin on the block. It seems like the future of ‘The Bomb Squad’ could be very bleak.

Moments before the POV competition, Devin whispers to Paola that if he wins the POV he will take her off the block. The POV competition involves balancing the ten ‘bb’ planets on a diagram without any of them touching the ground. It is an intense competition that comes down to Derrick and Devin. Devin just barely beats Derrick to win the POV. Devin has all of the power this week, something that makes Brittany very upset. After the POV competition, Zach has to do damage control with Devin to make sure he is not a potential target. Devin admits to Zach that he does not trust him right now. Zach realizes that he could be a target this week. Zach is talking with Frankie in the pantry and feels that he might have screwed himself. Frankie wonders why Zach did not lie. Zach is trying to figure out how to avoid being nominated this week.

Brittany goes to talk with Devin in the HOH room. Devin says he looks at her as a threat. Brittany says that she hopes a parent wins this game, because they are playing for so much more than the other people. Brittany promises that if he uses the veto on her, she will keep him safe and not nominate him. Devin tells her that Paola threw The Battle of the Block competition. Brittany looks completely betrayed. Downstairs, Zach is still defending himself to Devin. Zach keeps reassuring Devin that he can trust him. Zach says if he has to nominate him, then do it. Zach looks to be digging himself a grave.

The POV meeting should be interesting considering I’m not 100% sure what Devin is going to do. I personally would like to see him take Brittany off the block. The veto meeting is interesting, with Paola claiming this might be her only time to shine and does a very awkward model pose. Brittany calls out Paola during her speech and says that she is her target. Devin pulls a shocking move and uses the POV on Brittany this week. He nominates Zach as a replacement nominee. Brittany says she has something to say and then it cuts to credits. It looks like fights are about to break down in the Big Brother house. This should be exciting. Also, who will be evicted this week…Paola or Zach?
