'Avengers: Age of Ultron' villain Ultron revealed ahead of Comic-Con

With the last San Diego Comic-Con before Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters around the corner, Marvel has given us a preview of the film’s villain, Ultron.

The character and his army appear on the cover of Entertainment Weekly’s Comic-Con preview issue. Clearly, the cover was put together with some liberal use of Photoshop, with Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America standing in front of Ultron and his army.

While Ultron doesn’t look too different from his comic book incarnation, the movie version is created by Tony Stark (Downey), who hopes to give himself and his fellow heroes a break from saving the world. Unfortunately, things go awry and Ultron turns on the heroes.

“Ultron sees the big picture and he goes, ‘Okay, we need radical change, which will be violent and appalling, in order to make everything better’; he’s not just going ‘Muhaha, soon I’ll rule!’” director Joss Whedon told EW.

James Spader is playing Ultron thanks to some assistance from motion-capture technology. Other new members of the cast include Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
