Cinemax greenlights 'Outcast' from 'Walking Dead' creator Robert Kirkman

Robert Kirkman is about to have two shows on television. The creator of The Walking Dead has just got the greenlight from Cinemax to start work on a pilot based on his new comic series, Outcast.

Cinemax got Outcast in November, before a single issue was even published. The project sparked a bidding war, and HBO’s Cinemax won out.

Kirkman announced that Cinemax had put in a pilot order on Twitter today during the San Diego Comic-Con. He added that casting news will be announced closer to the start of production.

TVLine reports that Kirkman has agreed to write the pilot and will serve as the series’ executive producer.

Outcast is drawn by Paul Azaceta and is about Kyle Barnes, a man who has been possessed by a demon his entire life. While trying to discover the demon’s origin, he discovers that the truth could end life on earth as we know it.

The Walking Dead is currently the most-watched show on cable and airs on AMC. The trailer for its fifth season will premiere at Comic-Con today.
