Right around the 1-year anniversary of Glee star Cory Monteith’s death, his mother, Ann McGregor, is speaking out about her tragic loss.
Her interview with ABC News’ Good Morning America comes on the heels of his once estranged father Joe Monteith’s interview with ET Canada.
"The loss is horrendous. Until three days ago I couldn't look at a picture of Cory… So there's been progress,” she told Bianna Golodryga.
Monteith died of a fatal mixture of heroin and alcohol on July 13, 2013, but that wasn’t his first close call.

"He had a lot of emotional things he was trying to figure out -- lot of it was he really wanted a relationship with his father. I think when a child gets invalidated they keep reaching even harder. They want to find out why,” McGregor said. She said he had a scare when he was 15 years old and called it a “turning point” in his life.
McGregor even brought up her son’s girlfriend, Lea Michele, who is “hurting too,” she said. “You see the sadness. I know her pain.”
