‘Daredevil’ Netflix series gains ‘True Blood’ actress Deborah Ann Woll

With True Blood coming to an end this season, expect many of the HBO series’ stars to be in the headlines as they search for new gigs. Deborah Ann Woll has found her next role, playing the love interest in Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil series.

Woll will play Karen Page, Matt Murdock’s longtime love interest from the comics, notes Entertainment Weekly. This character was only briefly in the 2003 Ben Affleck Daredevil film.

According to Variety, Woll might have had a personal interest in starring in a show with a blind central character. Her boyfriend, EJ Scott, is battling choroideremia, which will cause him to lose his eyesight. The couple have publicly campaigned to raise awareness of the disease.

Woll is the latest star to join the series, which will star Charlie Cox as the title character. Eldon Henson, Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio and Peter Shinkoda will co-star.

Daredevil is slated to debut next year and will run 13 episodes. Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus) is the showrunner, while Drew Goddard is staying on as an executive producer.
