Didier Drogba returns to Chelsea

Soccer player Didier Drogba has returned to Chelsea of the English Premier League.

Drogba played for Chelsea in 241 games from 2004 to 2012 and scored 157 goals, the fourth highest total in the team’s history, according to Chelsea FC . He holds the team record for most goals in European competition with 34.

In a statement released by the team, Drogba said that returning to play for Chelsea was an easy decision, “I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work with Jose again. Everyone knows the special relationship I have have with this club and it has always felt like home to me.”

After leaving Chelsea in 2012, Drogba played for Shanghai Shenua of the Chinese Super League, before joining Galatasaray of Super Lig in Turkey, according to BBC.

While at Galatasaray, Drogba helped lead the team to the Turkish league title in 2012-2013 and a second place finish the season after.

Drogba is a fan favorite at Chelsea, fans voted him Chelsea’s greatest player ever in 2012. That same year Drogba scored the winning goal in a shoot out against Bayern Munich that led Chelsea to their first Champions League title, according to Irish Independent.
