Eighth grade trio signs major record deal with Sony

Most people hope to achieve their dreams when they grow up. But the members of Punk-Rock trio Unlocking The Truth will get the chance to live out their dream of being rock stars before they even start high school!

The group, which consists of guitarist Malcolm Brickhouse, 13, bassist Alec Atkins, 13 and drummer Jarad Dawkins, 12 just signed a contract with Sony that guarantees a release of two albums and gives Sony the option of releasing at least four more according to The New York Daily News. The New York Daily News also reports that the boys will get a $60,000 advance for their first album and as much as $350,000 in advance for their second album.

The three young Brooklyn natives were discovered in Washington square by Eric Clapton’s drummer Steve Jordan in 2012. They have since performed gigs in New York and the surrounding region and are currently traveling the country as a part of the Vans Warped Tour. According to MTV, a book about the boys’ road to stardom is in the works and will be released by Penguin around Christmastime.
