German national team coach Joachim Loew will remain with team

German National team coach Joachim Loew will remain as the German coach after signing a two-year contract extension prior to the World Cup.

Since taking over as head coach in 2006, Loew has led Germany to three semi-finals of major international competitions and the World Cup in June, according to Goal.com.

In an interview with the German Football Federation, Loew said that he needed time to think about the teams success, but he was never going to leave the team.

“At the moment, I can imagine nothing more beautiful than to continue working with this team, to guide it to the European Championship in France, to develop the team and the individual players further.”

Loew will have to look for a new assistant coach and he will have to appoint a new captain after Phillip Lahm retired following the World Cup, as we previously reported.

Germany has a rematch of the World Cup final with Argentina on Sept. 3 in Germany. Four days later they begin their Euro 2016 qualifying versus Scotland.
