John Carroll Lynch will 'scare the sh--' out you in 'American Horror Story: Freaks' villain role

John Carroll Lynch has been tapped to play the big bad for the upcoming American Horror Story: Freaks and the executive producer says he is scary.

At the FX series' Comic-Con panel, executive producer Tim Minear revealed that Lynch would be joining the series and that the fourth season is a little different, Deadline reports, describing it as "(director) Douglas Serik meets the movie Zodiac). Coincidentally, or not, Lynch had a role in the 2007 film.

Minear explained the Body of Proof actor's role was "a villain who will rival the rubber man and the minotaur from previous seasons. John Carroll Lynch will play him and he will scare the sh-- out of you."

The primary cast, minus Jessica Lange, were present at the panel and revealed the characters they would be playing in the upcoming series set in 1950s around one of the last freak shows.

Sarah Paulson is of course playing Siamese twins Bette and Dot, Emma Roberts is Maggie, Michael Chiklis is Evan del Toreado, with Angela Bassett playing his wife Desiree Dupre and Even Peters his son Jimmy Darling.

AHS: Freaks was a popular panel once Marvel's finished on Saturday and it isn't a surprise given how well the anthology series has done on FX. It definitely is popular enough that Neil Patrick Harris has campaigned for a role on the fourth series as he is a fan of freak shows.

He admitted last week on EW Radio to sending a letter to co-creator Ryan Murphy about a role, but said he never heard back. While Murphy eventually took to social media to say he would love to have the How I Met Your Mother alum on the show, but it isn't known whether NPH would be able to fit filming in between his commitment to his Broadway show Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
