Mary Poppins, played by Kristen Bell, isn't happy with minimum wage (Video)

Kristen Bell tested her pipes in Frozen and is at it again with a Funny Or Die video that features another popular Disney character, but with a very different disposition than what we’re used to.

The new video, titled “Mary Poppins Quits,” has Bell singing new lyrics for “A Spoonful of Sugar,” in which the practically perfect in every way nanny reveals that her financial situation isn’t perfect at all. She is only being paid minimum wage by the Banks family, which isn’t enough to buy a good umbrella and those birds don’t come cheap.

Director Rachel Goldenberg and writers Eliza Skinner and Jake Fogelnest add in plenty of references to Mary Poppins, including the mirror scene. Apparently, Mary Poppins’ “cheeky” reflection is a Republican.

Minimum wage has become a debate across the country, as President Obama has pushed for an increase of the federal minimum, which currently stands at just $7.25 an hour. Maybe with Mary Poppins on his side, he can get Congress to budge on the issue.
