Nashville Predators signs centers Mike Ribeiro and Derek Roy to one-year deals

The Nashville Predators have signed centers Mike Ribeiro and Derek Roy to one-year contracts.

The Predators were looking for depth at the center position after they lost Mike Fisher to a torn Achilles earlier this month, as we previously reported.

Ribeiro’s contract will be worth $1.05 million, while Roy’s will be $1 million, according to the AP.

Nashville Predators general manager David Poile said in a statement, that Ribeiro was an important signing for the team and that he will improve the center depth.

In his career, Ribeiro has 656 points in 865 games with Montreal, Dallas, Washington and Phoenix since the 1999-2000 season. He will be joining former teammates James Neal and Eric Nystrom on the Predators.

In a statement on Roy, Poile said that Roy is a playmaker and brings experience at center, which will help the young forwards mature.

Roy has amassed 492 points in 666 career games with Bufallo, Dallas, Vancouver and St. Louis since the 2003-2004 season. He will re-join former teammate Paul Gaustad.

These two players are the second and third center the Predators have signed this month, according to NHL.com.
