Ne-Yo sues ex-manager for $8 million

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Ne-Yo has sued his ex-manager for $8 million.

The suit was filed in Manhattan federal court on Wednesday against his former manager Kevin Foster and V. Brown & Company, Foster’s employer at the time of the misconduct.

Foster is accused of transferring $4.5 million out of Ne-Yo’s bank accounts to himself and others. He also allegedly forged Ne-Yo’s signature on loan documents, using the funds personally, reports the New York Post.

Another $3.5 million is being sought in return for service payment made to Foster and V. Brown from 2005 to 2013.

At the beginning of his relationship with Ne-Yo, Foster was working as an accountant and agreed to manage Ne-Yo’s finances on behalf of V. Brown & Company, reports the New York Daily News. Foster later left to start his own company, taking Ne-Yo’s business with him.

It was only when Ne-Yo hired another accounting firm that he realized Foster had been deceiving him.

Ne-Yo, whose birth name is Shaffer Smith, is well known for hit songs “Lazy Love,” “Money Can’t Buy” and “Sexy Love.”
